Introduction
We became pregnant with our first child after our first attempt.
During the birth, the baby became stuck and we had to have a ventouse delivery. The placenta was then retain and had to be removed by hand.
10 weeks later I had to return to hospital for a D&C because some placenta was left behind.
My periods were always regular before my daughter whom I breastfed.
We began trying when I was still breast feeding.
After 3 months of TTC I stopped Breast feeding.
It still took a further 5 months to conceive.
Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
We began TTC our second child, thinking it would be as easy as the first.
Unfortunately it was very unlike it.
TTC became very hard when we failed to conceive after 3 months.
I began to worry that the D&C procedure had damaged me.
I took the difficult decision to stop breast feeding my daughter in order to improve our chances (luckily she had decided to stop too)
But when after a few months we still hadn't conceived, I began to feel as if something was wrong with my body again. It is not easy when you question yourself and wonder if your little girl will be your only child ad that perhaps you were lucky to even get her!
When all those around you are telling you to stop 'trying' when you are being as calm as possible, you just want to scream, that they have no idea what they are talking about!!
Charting Experience
I used OPKs, once I had stopped feeding my daughter, for 3 months but stopped for the last 2.
We conceived by taking temps, watching for EWCM and checking my cervix position. It was a much calmer way to do it, though I needed to have done the tests in order to fully understand my cycles.
Temping allowed me to fully understand my cycles, in order that I could stop the daily testing and just trust the chart.
The Internet
FF allowed me to collate all the information I had been gathering through internet searchings and chat rooms, mainly chat rooms.
By giving you an easy chart to fill in, you can begin to build an understanding of your own cycle in order that you can pinpoint the best days to try to conceive.
Eventually dropping all tests and learning to trust you body to do it's job.
Other Thoughts?
By using FF over a number of months, my Husband and I only had intercourse once during my fertile period, but it was bang on time!
