Introduction
I conceived my first child at the age of 36 after 6 months, using ovulation tests, and my second at the age of 38, also using ovulation tests but this time straight away. We wanted to have a third child and my husband and I started trying in January 2006, again using ovulation tests to help us time intercourse. After 8 months with no success, I found Fertility Friend on-line and started charting. We conceived in the second month but, sadly, this pregnancy miscarried in December 2006 at 10 weeks. We have been trying to conceive since then (14 months) and I have just found out that I have conceived again.
Charting Experience
Without charting, I believe that both of the two last conceptions would have been impossible as it has become clear that my menstral cycle is extremely irregular with the date of ovulation varying from day 11 to day 32. Several months I have not ovulated at all. Charting has given me information about what my body is doing. This understanding has helped my carry on in my efforts to conceive. I don't know if this pregnancy will be successful (and, at my age, I don't feel I can be too hopeful) but I would never have got this far without charting.
The Internet
Using Fertility Friend has, without doubt, got me through the last two years. I have found the charting tools themselves both informative and supportive and I can't speak highly enough of the lovely people who staff the VIP question forum - what an amazing job they do.
Other Thoughts?
The information I have gained about my fertility over the past two years of charting has been absolutely invaluable. By making sense of my own fertility, I have been able to stop myself from getting despondent. When trying to conceive, it is all too easy to feel that one is alone, particularly unlucky, a victim or just a freak. The Fertility Friend site has been incredibly helpful as an educational tool and also as a source of support and comfort.
