Introduction
I am 37 years old and have two older sons from a previous marriage. My husband and I married two years ago and planned to have a child of our own. We tried for four and a half months before seeking medical help.
Tests, Procedures, Medical consultations
I first went to my OB/GYN to ensure I was physically healthy. My doctor ordered fertility tests and procedures. I had an ultrasound to check for fibrosis, a Hysterosalpingogram, and blood work. My husband had a sperm analysis.
All my results can back fine. My husband was diagnosed with low sperm count and morphology.
Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
Our doctor told us to continue the natural process but we would start the insemination process for three cycles, if that did not work then we would go to ICUS (in-vitro). A little down and worried we continued on our path of trying. With my pending period my and husband and I met with the doctor to discuss our issue and see if insemination was the best option at this point. Being 37 we did not have a lot of time and our insurance would not cover the fertility procedures we wanted to make sure there was a chance.
We went home deciding to go forward with insemination, a little upset we continued on and waited for my period. To my surprise my period never started. Using fertilityfriend I went with the suggested test date and it showed a faint line. I tested again the next morning and the line was a little darker. I waited a week and tested again this time the line was stronger than the controler line.
Charting Experience
Charting my BBT and CM has helped me with recognizing my impending ovulation. I was also able to see patterns of my temperatures. Now that I am pregnant I use the chart to measure my temperature to ensure it is still high. Since I haven't seen the doctor yet I am monitoring that the pregnancy is going well and healthy.
The Internet
I have used the Internet to look for all resources regarding pregnancy. In fact the Internet helped me find Fertilityfriend. I have even searched pregnancy myths to see the different beliefs people have.
Other Thoughts?
My husband and I are extremely happy to be pregnant; my advice to anyone TTC is to never stop believing. We thought we did not have a chance to conceive naturally but we were proven wrong. This is our miracle baby. Good luck to all.
