Introduction
I am a 24 year old teacher who has been married almost 2 years. We decided to try to conceive starting in May. I had previously been on birth control for 8 years and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to conceive because I didn't know if I really had a regular cycle or not.
Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
We decided to start trying knowing that it could take months. I charted for one month before trying and then decided that we would try. I was very relaxed about the whole thing and my husband and I knew that it may take a while. After I detected ovulation and we were intimate for the two days leading up to ovulation and on the evening of ovulation, it was very hard to focus on anything else. All I could tell myself was that I could be pregnant but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I had a feeling but I didn't want to believe it. After 16 days past ovulation, and I was experiencing cramping, breast tenderness, heart burn, and extreme exhaustion, I decided to test. It came out positive! We were in disbelief that it took such a short time, we took another test and it was positive!
Charting Experience
Charting is a great way to tell when you are ovulating and also something to keep your mind busy while your waiting to test. I learned a lot about my cycle and what to expect.
The Internet
The internet is an amazing tool that can really inform us about many things. I have researched almost every topic imaginable and sometimes it has helped and sometimes it has brought on more worry but most important it is a great tool that should be used by everyone.
Other Thoughts?
We are very excited and will definitely use charting again.
