Introduction
I recently got married 3 months ago, at my age I wouldn't generally feel motivated to jump right into baby-making mode, but my husband is 19 years older than me, and it's important to me that our kids get to spend as much time with us as possible.
I am very happy to be married to my husband, he is a person that I've always admired and I'm really excited to see him as a father. He was never married before, no kids, so this was something for him that he saw as most likely not going to happened for him, so this is very exciting for both of us.
My mother had multiple miscarriages during her baby years so I'm trying to keep in mind to not be too upset if that is the case with me as well.
Tests, Procedures, Medical consultations
None yet.
Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
I never realized that there was only a 20-25% chance per each cycle to get pregnant. One of my friends just had a baby 5 months ago, got pregnant after 2 months, and I have another friend with a baby on the way. It happened so quickly for them that I hope I don't have a difficult time.
However, when I've looked through the chart gallery, I see charts of women who've been trying for many months and they DO get pregnant, so that is very comforting & I feel very happy for them.
Charting Experience
Charting has been totally awesome. I've learned so much about my body and I feel really empowered about maximizing my fertility possibilities.
Last month was my first full month of charting & my luteal phase was only 10 days so if I do have difficulty getting pregnant, I can show that to my doctor right away.
My cycles are rather regular, so I'm also comforted by the fact that when my next period is due I can watch my temps and if they drop, I don't have to waste $ or disappoint myself with a negative HPT.
The Internet
Just because something is on the internet doesn't make it true or accurate. When I was researching my short luteal phase, I saw from many sites the recommendation to take a vitamin B6 supplement which can help lengthen the luteal phase, I am taking those every day and am grateful that there are options that are not expensive and do not even require a visit to the doctors office.
Other Thoughts?
Pregnancy seems like such a foreign thing to me. For a while I didn't like the idea of "being pregnant" and having a life grow inside me. But now that I am at the point in my life where it's time to have that baby, I'm really excited & have no idea how I will react to receiving a positive HPT. It must be surreal the first time around.
