Introduction
I had my first child, a boy 17 months ago and used a Maybe Baby device to work out when I was ovulating. I have an irregular cycle which averages 33 days and ranges between 30 and 36 days so I needed something to help work out when I was fertile. Because I had hoped for a girl last time I did some research to try and increase my chances of not only falling pregnant eaily (as I did last time, first try!) but to fall pregnant with a girl.

Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
About four months ago I started reading on sex selection which led me to find out about the different ways to chart your cycle. I set myself up and started watching and learning about my bodies fertility signs. I started taking folate 3 months before I wanted to activley start trying, and some magnesium and calcium suppliments which can be helpful in conceiving girls. Once I felt prepared to give it my best shot, and with my husband eager to start I watched for my fertility signs and timed it as best as I could. About 8 or 9 days after ovulation I got very sore breasts which swelled a bit. The only other time this had happened was last tome I was pregnant so I had a feeling we had been lucky first go again. A test on the thirteenth day after ovulation confirmed it.

Charting Experience
Charting was invaluble to my success. Just a few minutes each morning for temperature, ferning test and then during the day I would add my cervical mucus type. I printed some charts I made on excel and then every few days added the info onto my fertility friend chart. Each month I became more adept at reading my own signs.

The Internet
I thought that after reading the books that I had, that I had found out everything that I could about charting, with one exception, cervical mucus. There didn't seem to be enough written about the different stages. Once I had hooked up to fertility friend though, I completed all of the 20 lessons that I had been sent and found out the answeres to any question my other reading had left me with. In addition to this I also loved how based on all my info my ovulation date was clearly shown.

Other Thoughts?
I always thought that being organised, charting my cycle, and doing some reading would increase my chances of falling pregnant, and with a girl. I conceived straight away, as for the girl part, I will have to wait, but at least I tried!
