Introduction
I have very short cycles (23 days usually) and short LPs (11 days). So in 1 year of TTC, I actually have 16 cycles. This is good and bad. Good: I have more chances to get preg. Bad: I also have more 2wws and BFNs.

My cycles have been swinging around a bit (varying by a few days in either direction). We started TTC in June/July (July was the official start but we had unprotected BDing in June, too, I just had no idea when I was Oing then). I have been using OPKs and ov microscope, as well as BBT, so I have a pretty solid idea each cycle of when I am Oing. We were doing fairly well at time BDing.

Trying-to-Conceive (TTC) experience
In Sept, we had a chemical (2 +HPTs followed by -HPTs followed by a nasty AF with lots of cramping). I was crushed. We took a break from BBT because the 2ww was killing me - especially seeing my temps drop 2-3 days before AF showed. But, we continued to TTC using OPKs and the ov scope to determine O. (I also stayed off the forums for a while because it was hard for me to see all of the success stories and all of the women who had been TTC for years without luck. It was too depressing for me at the time.)

DH and I had a long talk during xmas break, decided that something was wrong and we should see a fertility specialist once we hit the one year mark. Until then, we'd just continue to BD and see if we got lucky. We were convinced that I had an LP defect and that he had sperm problems (he sits with his laptop on his lap all the time and takes baths frequently, so I was worried he was killing sperm - he stopped doing both of these in Dec, but I read that it takes ~3 mos for new healthy sperm to form and mature). Anyway, I was really convinced that we were going to need fertility help. I started researching what kind of help we would need and the cost, and we started a savings account for it. We had also talked about adoption (which was my choice over fert help), but DH wanted to try the fert help first.

I decided I was comfortable enough with the decision we'd made to get back on the forums and also to chart BBT again. I really had it in my mind that there was no way we'd get preg without help.

This month's chart looks awful! My post-O temp rise is almost nothing at the beginning, finally rises and then falls for 2 days. It's rocky - just looks like a normal, unsuccessful month to me.

When I got preg with DS in 2005, I knew from my chart that I was preg - it had a very steady increase in temps, not rocky like my normal charts. I also had a feeling right after we BDed that cycle that we had been successful, so even when I got my first -HPT, I was really calm and actually waited 2 full days before testing again and getting a +. I was having preg sysmptoms then, too - exhausion, mild nausea, trouble controlling my body temp (kept getting too hot or too cold). These were very subtle though, like when you are just starting to get the flu.

This month, FF couldn't figure out when I O'ed until I'd posted 5 post-O temps, then it kept moving my O around (although it finally decided on the day I thought it was, so that was reassuring). I thought this month was a dead loss. I didn't have "that" feeling of being preg this month either. In fact, when my temps dropped for those 2 straight days, I thought it was over and AF was about to show! I checked my cervix on the second morning to see if it was low, but instead it was HIGH - so high I couldn't even feel it. I freaked out - seriously, thought I had a low progesterone/high estrogen hormone problem in my LP. I even posted a question about it here.

The only thing that made me suspicious enough to try taking a HPT, was that I had odd cramping. I do normally having cramping off and on throughout my LP, but AF-like cramps. These cramps were very low and pinching, like when you exercise too hard and get a stitch in your side from breathing wrong, but these were in my groin area. Also I was getting tired earlier in the evenings - wanting to go to bed at 9:30 instead of 11:30. Although, that I chalked up to having had a busy week last week and a busy b-day weekend for DS.

I broke down and tested yesterday morn (9dpo), really expecting to find nothing. My temp had dropped again, and I figured it was over, AF would show by the weekend. But, I only had 4 IC HPTs left and just wanted them gone so I wouldn't be tempted by them any more! I seriously was thinking at the time that I was totally wasting a test.

A very, very, very faint line came up in the test area. I thought it was an evap line, but didn't throw the test away like I normally would have. Yesterday afternoon while I was out running errands, I suddenly decided that I needed to take a FRER. So, I bought a box, went home and took one. To my great astonishment, it turn + right away (but it was extremely faint). However, I still was not convinced! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me because I wanted to be preg so badly.

A friend of mine came over for dinner, and I showed her the FRER test. She said, "OMG, there are definitely 2 lines! The test line is super faint but really there." I ran and got the IC HPT from the morning, too. Sure enough, an obvious line on it, too.

Last night I had a dream that AF came and this was just another chemical. I was so bummed when I got up this morning, I almost didn't take my temp. But my temp was up and I took another HPT, which is more obviously + this time.

Other Thoughts?
I haven't told DH yet. Trying to think of a clever way to do it, but will likely tell him tonight or tomorrow morning.
