Charting: Follow-up BFN/BFP Stats StudyThis is a follow-up on my previous post, BFP after BFN.We recently published a more detailed study as a site FAQ following the comments that I mention below: Early Negative Pregnancy Test Before a Positive - Stats Study First I'd like to thank all members who took the time to send their comments and feedback. It was, as usual, very interesting and insightful. I will summarize the comments below. The main comment was that people recognize themselves in the numbers and found a validation of their personal experience. Concerning the early positive results, most people pointed out that there are now very sensitive tests and that helps to explain the results we see. This is a valid point which can easily be seen in the stats published in the HPT Photo Gallery. Several members mentioned that they compiled such stats on their own before and were glad to see it published. One member suggested that we publish cumulative histograms as well. You can find it on the new FAQ. Last but not least I am re-printing the comment of one member that best summarized many of the comments we received: "This was so true for me. I KNEW I was pregnant even after a NEGATIVE urine test done at my doctors. I'll have to check my chart... was 5 years ago but I THINK it was 10dpo when I had them test me. It was negative at their office on that day, positive with a home test the next then positive the following day at the Dr's again. My hcg was only 31 so the nurse told me not to get too excited yet. I went on to have twins. " |
